OVER 500 STUDENTS, MONKS, AND NUNS CAN RELY ON THE SUPPORT SYSTEM ESTABLISHED BY SMIBF DONORS FOR THEIR BASIC NEEDS, INCLUDING FOOD, ROBES, TEXTS, MEDICAL CARE, AND FREE TUITION. THE INSTITUTION PROVIDES THE NECESSARY TRAINING FOR YOUNG LAMAS TO ENSURE THAT BUDDHISM'S ACADEMIC TRADITION CONTINUES.2. THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAMYE MEMORIAL MONASTERY IN NEPAL. TRADITIONALLY, RITUAL ARTS AND SCHOLASTIC STUDY HAVE BEEN A PREROGATIVE OF TIBETAN BUDDHIST MONKS, WITH THEIR ORDAINED SISTERS RECEIVING LITTLE OR NO TRAINING IN THESE AREAS. IN SAMYE MEMORIAL MONASTERY, HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. THE SAMYE MEMORIAL MONASTERY IS THE FIRST CONVENT IN NYINGMA DUDJOM LINEAGE HISTORY. IT WILL ACCOMMODATE OVER ONE THOUSAND NUNS.
