Units under management are located in the cities of Goshen and Elkhart Indiana. During 2013, LaCasa substantially completed construction for two Permanent Supportive Housing projects to provide housing to formerly homeless individuals and families including a 16-unit multi-family project in Goshen, Indiana for individuals and a duplex in Elkhart, Indiana for families. These new units, along with 15 already in operation, are managed in collaboration with Oaklawn who provides mental health services to those tenants. LaCasa offers an 8 hour Home Buyer Education class, a 10 hour Financial Fitness class and Individual Development Savings Accounts. LaCasa also provides one-on-one individual counseling for pre-purchase, post-purchase and foreclosure mitigation. In 2013, 115 clients graduated from the Home Buyer Education classes including 47 families who purchased their first home with LaCasa assistance. This accreditation enables our counselors to submit documentation on our clients' behalf and also represent them to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). In 2013, our immigration counselors filed 183 documents with the USCIS assisting immigrants renew residency status, apply for citizenship and petition for family members to enter the U.S. LaCasa also saw 1,136 immigrants with general questions about immigration policy, process and eligibility. LaCasa has direct access to USCIS officials in Indianapolis. Our counselors represent clients all the way through the process to ensure success. |
