Redbud Road Street Closure: The objectives of this project were safety, traffic calming, and beautification. It involved closing one entrance of a busy street that was used primarily for cut-thru traffic. The subsequent reduction in traffic has improved the quality of life in many ways, including the ability for pedestrian traffic to proceed safely and by reducing noise and litter that resulted from the higher traffic. In addition to making the area safer, the closure made the area more attractive with professional landscape, a new fence and a new side walk. Accomplishing the project involved many steps, including (but not limited to): getting the community to reach a consensus to pursue the traffic calming measure, working with the City Public Works Department to get their approval of the design, working with City Fire Department in order to satisfy their requirements for fire truck access and fire hydrant placement, hiring an attorney to represent the foundation to the City Planning Department and the City Counsel and to draft and file the new plat and other documentation, hiring a surveyor to survey the surrounding property, hiring a landscape architect to design and install the landscaped cul-de-sac with a center isle and hiring a construction company to close the street and create a cul-de-sac with curb and gutter and a center isle.0127586
Lake Circle Entrance Improvements: The objective of this project is primarily beautification. The organization firmly believes that defining and beautifying common areas is a critical component to maintaining the appearance of the Eastover community. The landscaping and antique brick columns also send a message that the GENF is working together to maintain and improve our community, and we believe it encourages others to do the same. Similar to other entrance work, the design of the Lake Circle entrance will feature an antique brick column with the signature "E" etching in stone, as well as a thirty-foot brick planter and bench surrounded by landscape. Seasonal color would be maintained in conjunction with other entrances. A brick pedestrian crossing that would further enhance the sense of entry has also been approved by the City. Although construction of this project is not yet complete, accomplishing this project thus far has involved a number of steps, including (but not limited to): acquiring City approval to alter the right-of-way and install brick pavers, acquiring property-owner approval for the actual site work, hiring a landscape architect to design and perform the work and hiring an attorney to draft and record an easement.041481
Standard Decorative Signage Policy & Installation: The primary objective of implementing standard, decorative signage is to beautify the neighborhood. The establishment of decorative signage for purposes traffic, real estate sales and other purposes provides continuity throughout the neighborhood. As an added bonus, the larger blades of our custom traffic signs make them easier for drivers and pedestrians to read. The new signage encompasses the signature "E" logo. The new sign poles are made of high-grade cast aluminum and stainless steel materials, and the custom blades of the traffic signs are reflective. In sum, the new decorative signage creates a sense of being within the boundaries of Eastover and allows the neighborhood to maintain a distinguished, uniform look throughout. Accomplishing this project included a number of steps, including (but not limited to): acquiring City approval via the Jackson City Public Works Department (and legal department), hiring a company to create the custom design of the signage, and overseeing the installation of the signage and the implementation of the signage policy.013257
