| Description | 2013 has been another productive year for The Tricycle Foundation, publisher of the quarterly magazine Tricycle: The Buddhist Review and host of its affiliated website, tricycle.com. This year, for the second time, the Foundation was pleased to receive the Utne Media Award for outstanding coverage in the Body/Spirit category. The Foundation continues to expand its activities and offerings to better serve its constituents. New offerings in 2013 include: The Tricycle app: Readers can now download the magazine to their smartphones and tablets. The app includes a number of premium features, including podcasts, slide shows, and video shorts. Its elegant design and user-friendly interface helped the app to rise to the top of its category on iTunes shortly after its launch. Tricycle Talks: The Foundation now produces a podcast series, Tricycle Talks. The series features some of todays most compelling teachers, writers and thinkers, who discuss everyday life through a Buddhist lens. Tricycle Pilgrimage Program: In 2013, the Foundation expanded its pilgrimage program to include trips to Nepal and Bhutan. Thirty pilgrims visited monasteries, nunneries and sites key to the development of Indo-Tibetan Buddhism, and received teachings from some of todays most beloved Tibetan teachers. Tricycles audience continues to grow. This year, web traffic increased by over 20%, and, with the new app and increasing newsstand sales, the Foundation significantly expanded its reach. With a healthy operating surplus, Tricycle will begin 2014 on a solid footing. We expect continued growth throughout the year and to provide yet newer offerings to our membership. | Description |
