Since the Center elects not to report the contributed art on their financial statements they are not required to state the fair market value of the collections.The items in the collection consist of an original Howdy Doody marionette and an original Madam marionette used in the production of the Howdy Doody Show which aired on American Television from 1947 to 1960. The Howdy Doody show is considered by many cultural historians as the predecessor to such modern education programs like Sesame Street and The Muppets. The marionettes were donated by the estate of Velma Wayne Dawson, creator of the characters.
