| Desc | Coalition Building and AdvocacyThe Organization works to assist with the implementation of new laws and the design of effective programs - most recently with Californias Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities and Veterans Housing and Homelessness Prevention programs. During 2014, the Organization sponsored and successfully advocated for legislation that increased resources to create more affordable homes in California. Housing California also successfully worked to pass a bill removing one of the most common barriers experienced by homeless individuals who need help stabilizing their lives. The bill waived fees to acquire birth certificates and identification (a necessity for individuals needing access to essential life-saving services) for people experiencing homelessness.Housing California strengthens its work in the state capitol through innovative partnerships with both housing and non-housing organizations, including: Residents United Network (RUN) - A statewide network of affordable-home resident and community leaders, affordable-home developers and advocates.Sustainable Communities for All (SC4A) - A coalition working to provide transportation and housing choices that allow all Californians to drive less and reduce household costs, especially for low-income households.
