DescIn 2015, the Tampa Museum of Art presented an ambitious exhibition schedule, working with organizations and artists of national renown to bring major art exhibitions to the community. In addition to several smaller exhibitions drawn from our permanent collection, we looked forward in 2015 to bring four important traveling exhibitions to Tampa, each outlined briefly below.American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell March 7 - May 31. One of the most popular American artists of the past century, Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) was a keen observer of human nature and a gifted visual storyteller. His contributions to our visual legacy, many of them now icons of American culture, have found a permanent place in our national psyche. Organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA, this exhibition includes more than fifty original Rockwell oil paintings, together with hundreds of published magazine covers and posters. Numerous photographs, letters, and sketches help to illustrate his working method. Scenery, Story, Spirit: American Paintings and Sculpture from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art June 13 - September 6. Between the 1830s and the end of the First World War, American art came into its own. From the majestic Hudson River School paintings of Thomas Cole, John Kensett, and Albert Bierstadt to the gritty urban realism of Robert Henri and John Sloan, this exhibition highlights the maturation of a distinctly American idiom, one informed by international currents and engaged with capturing the fluxes of modern life. Masterpieces of landscape, genre, still-life, and portraiture, punctuated by a selection of sculptures, trace an evolution in style from an art driven by the mandates of westward expansion to one animated by experimentation. In Living Color: Andy Warhol and Contemporary Printmaking from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation; June 20 - September 20. Andy Warhol (1928-1987) depicted the world with the volume turned up. Employing a seemingly endless color palette, his work continues to challenge our perceptions of popular culture, politics, and consumerism. Spanning three decades of Warhol's career, this exhibition features some of the artist's most iconic screen prints, including his portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Mao Zedong, and the controversial Electric Chair portfolio. In Living Color is divided into five sections-experimentation, emotion, experience, subversion, and attitude-in each of which Warhol's work is placed in conversation with other artists of the postwar era.XTO + J-C: Christo and Jeanne-Claude Featuring Works from the Bequest of David C. CopleySeptember 26, 2015 - January 3, 2016. Christo is best known for the monumental projects he and his late wife and collaborator Jeanne Claude accomplished over nearly four decades. These include the 24.5 mile-long Running Fence in California (1976), the Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin (1995), and The Gates (2005), which comprised 7,053 fabric banners spanning the walkways of New York's Central Park. Organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, XTO+J-C will present more than fifty works by Christo, including numerous drawings and collages related to his most famous projects as well as his earlier wrapped objects-chairs, road signs, motorcycles, and other commonplace items that disrupt our relationship to the everyday through their concealment. In addition, the Museum widened its community outreach, offering programs to those suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease, Trauma and PTSD, and Depression and built the program Connections to better reach those with Mental Healthcare needs with private funding and assistance from the Tampa Bay Foundation for Mental Health. We expanded our reach to the higher education community by engaging with Honors College Students of the University of South Florida, Nursing Students at the University of Tampa and waiving all general admission fees for students with active IDs from Colleges and Universities across North America. We also opened our free docent tour program offered to all public Hillsborough County District schools to all charter, private and home school programs, and increased the number of summer camps and classes from 7 to 18. The Tampa Museum of Art is now a Blue Star Museum, offering free admission to all active military and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Among other continuations of previous programs, the Museum continued its commitment to accessibility by maintaining its daily opening hours, staying open later into the evening during the week, and offering Pay What You Will admission each Friday from 4-8 pm.Desc

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11The Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees approves the form before it is filed.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12cAnnually, the Museum sends the Conflict of Interest policy to each board member, with the requirement that it must be signed and returned to the organization within 30 days of the board member's receipt of policy. Service on the Board is contingent upon the completion of the form.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15At the end of the 4th quarter, the Board of Trustees annually completes a written evaluation of the executive director. The Executive Committee of the Board reviews the executive director in person and provides the feedback from the entire Board. Goals and priorities are set for the executive director during the 1stQ of the New Year. Annually, the Executive Committee reviews the Association of Art Museum Directors Salary Survey to ensure that the compensation for the executive director is in line with the median salary for the size of the organization, the location and the region in which the Museum operates. The Executive Committee then makes a decision as to whether a salary increase is warranted and guarantees that the new salary is within the range set. (The range is 15% on either side of the median salary based on AAMD Salary Survey.)
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19At this time, the Museum only allows the public to view its form 990 and financial statements upon request of the documents. They have recently updated their website and are considering posting the aforementioned documents for display.

Form And Line ReferenceForm 990, Schedule R, Part V, Transactions with Related OrganizationsFormAndLineReferenceDesc
ExplanationTampa Museum of Art, Inc. (the Museum) entered into several transactions during 2014, in order to make additional funds available to it through the New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) Program. The Tampa Museum of Art Operations and Special Events, Inc. (TMAOS) was formed on April 25, 2014 to accept the funds from the NMTC on May 15, 2014. Proceeds from the NMTC were used by the Museum to pay off short-term debt, expand operating capital, hire personnel, and secure future exhibitions. The Museum entered into a Lease Agreement with the City of Tampa in February 2010. The Museum then entered into a Transfer of Leasehold Interest in relation to the NMTC which transferred the operations, management and administration of the leased premises (the Museum) to TMAOS as of May 2014. The purchase price of this leasehold interest was $5,425,000, of which $5,118,401 was paid in cash and financed through the NMTC loans and $306,599 was deemed a contribution from the Museum. The Museum entered into a Museum Operating Agreement with the City of Tampa in December 2007 and a First Amendment to the City Operating Agreement in November 2008. The City, the Museum, and TMAOS entered into a Second Amendment to the City Operating Agreement on May 15, 2014, amending the agreement so as to allow delineation of operational, administration and management responsibilities under the City Operation Agreement between the Museum and TMAOS. The Sub-operating Agreement allows the Museum to focus on maintenance of its art collection and ongoing development of the art collection while transferring the operating, administration, and management functions to TMAOS. The Museum will pay TMAOS an annual operating expense contribution not to exceed $1,000,000, payable quarterly in equal installments of $250,000. The Museum contributed $728,665 to TMAOS for the year ended December 31, 2015. The Museum entered into a Bilateral Employee Leasing Agreement with TMAOS effective May 15, 2014 to benefit the work of each entity. Certain employees of the Museum are shared with TMAOS and certain employees of TMAOS are shared with the Museum. These amounts are eliminated in the consolidated financial statements. TMAOS received revenue from the Museum of $129,707 for employees leased to the Museum. The Museum received revenue from TMAOS of $753,998 for employees leased to TMAOS.ExplanationTxt
