DescLEBANON: WRF has had a steadfast presence in Lebanon for 27 years often the only international rehabilitation NGO working in the country throughout long periods of conflict. The Lebanon Emergency Response Program of WRF targets persons with physical and sensory disabilities among Refugees from Syria (RfS) and a smaller number of persons with similar disabilities in Lebanese host communities (LHCs). These include: Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in life-saving need of prosthetic or orthotic devices to mitigate the burdens of their disability, support rehabilitation, and upgrade their independence, social integration, and socioeconomic productivity. PWDs in need of prescription eyeglasses and hearing aids, with emphasis on school-age children, to mitigate their impairment and improve access to education and capacity building. Thanks to a donation from Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bustany, WRF was able to support a small Emergency Response program. This project provided relief for children with hearing and visual impairments in urgent need for hearing aids or prescription eyeglasses. The attention was directed to school-age children and youth with economic potential to decrease burden, reduce the risks of daily life, and improve access to education and to various forms of assistance. WRF made every effort possible to ensure nonbiased, equitable and effective provision of services among females and males in need.WRF-Lebanon also actively participated in ten Protection Working Group meetings and two Community-Based Protection workshops in addition to other activities of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) relating to addressing the needs of Refugees from Syria and their Lebanese host communities. In this context, the efforts of WRF have been instrumental in bringing the needs of persons with disabilities to the agenda of the Protection working group of UNHCR.WRF continues to lead coordination efforts among local and international humanitarian agencies helping persons with disabilities among refugees from Syria and Lebanese host communities through steering the Disability and Older Age Working Group formed in June 2013. Moreover, WRF-Lebanon participated in consultation, coordination and training workshops with UN-OCHA, particularly those related to launching the Lebanon Country Emergency Response Fund.54 PWDs were provided with rehabilitation devices, 39 Syrian refugees and 15 Lebanese; 25 received prescription eyeglasses and 29 received hearing aids.Formal partnerships were established with two local suppliers of hearing and visual aids to respond to the needs of target beneficiaries.Desc

DescPAKISTAN :Since the 1960s, WRF has worked in partnership with the American Friends of the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled. This organization raises funds to improve rehabilitation services at the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PSRD) in Lahore. PSRD is a rehabilitation center which has a 100-bed hospital; physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services; a school for children with disabilities and a prosthetics and orthotics center. Currently, WRF is supporting efforts to improve both onsite and outreach services to underserved areas in the Lahore region, thereby ensuring that thousands of people receive rehabilitation services annually. This year, WRF took part in supporting the renovation and up-grading of the Orthopaedic Hospital Wards. The Hospital wards on the first floor were constructed in the 1960 and were in a very poor condition. A renovation of the Male D Ward was undertaken as well as its attached bathrooms and central kitchen. The kitchen was moved to the floor above. The Resident Medical Officers accommodation was as well renovated. A new work station and changing room for the nurses were added as well. Thanks to AFPSRD and WRF support, the Ward, post-operative room, and Kitchen are functional and up-to-date. The layout has been properly designed to ensure maximum utilization of space. The attractive nursing station is giving a very professional look. The nurses are appreciating the changing room with lockers for their personal effects. The brand new kitchen is clean and hygienic and providing healthy meals to all the patients in the hospital, free of charge. Post-operative room and Male D ward have been fitted out with new or refurbished beds and can accommodate up to 27 patients, thus increasing the capacity by almost 30%. Matrons room has been relocated to a more central area, thus improving her ability to supervise the functioning of the Hospital. The second phase of the Burki project, which aimed to improve the basic health of children and provide rehabilitation services to children with disabilities, as well as improve the health of their mothers and women of reproductive age and give them counselling on reproductive health, nutrition, healthy living and hygiene, was successful. Through the project, 121 children were treated. To learn more visit: psrd.org.pkDesc

DescCambodia: The Artisan Association of Cambodia (AAC), a Fair Trade Association, was formed by WRF in 2001 to support the development of crafts as a viable way of economic improvement of disadvantaged and disabled Cambodians. The AAC member organizations are serving: landmine survivors, women victim of trafficking, single household mothers, HIV positive people, and other disadvantaged communities. This project helps 43 social enterprises, which pay wages to over 2,700 Cambodians artisans, 73% are women and 11% are persons with disabilities. With WRF funding, AAC helps these social enterprises develop their range of products such as handicrafts, fashion accessories or housewares, and ensures that tourists and international buyers have the opportunity to purchase these products.AAC has grown from an organization with only 4 members to 43 member organizations who employ persons with disabilities, women, single parents, immigrants, and vulnerable youth. Nearly 3,000 artisans and support staff are beneficiaries of AACs assistance. Through strengthening its member organizations, increasing the quality of their products and sales, advocating on their behalf, AAC enables higher wages and better working conditions for the artisans, and ultimately social and economic independence for people who otherwise would not be able to achieve it. AAC products are currently sold in many countries outside of Cambodia. These include: USA, UK, Netherlands, France, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, Finland and Scotland.Desc

Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services DescriptionOTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: PAKISTAN :Since the 1960s, WRF has worked in partnership with the American Friends of the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled. To learn more visit: psrd.org.pk
