The College has collections housed in the Mead Art Museum and the Beneski Museum of Natural History. The Mead Art Museum exhibits selections from its diverse collection of 16,000 works including American art, Russian modernist art, French art, British portraiture, African art, Japanese art, 19th and 20th century photography, and master and modern prints and drawings. Schedule J, Part I, Line 1aThe President is required to maintain a personal residence on campus as a condition of employment for the convenience of the employer. Certain personal services are provided to maintain this residence. Occasional personal services provided to the President are considered personal expenses and added to the President's taxable compensation including the value of the related tax liability. The President has been approved to use first class travel for certain business trips. These expenses are reviewed and monitored by personnel in the Chief Financial Officer's Office. In accordance with a key employee's employment agreement, a dependent's taxable grant was added to the employee's taxable compensation including the value of the related tax liability.
Schedule J, Part I, Line 3The College participated in an annual survey of comparable institutions which compared historic salaries and designated benefits for the chief executive. The Board of Trustees delegated to an ad hoc Committee on Compensation, consisting of independent trustees, authority to determine the compensation of the President in accordance with the Compensation Policy for Designated Individuals approved by the Board in May 2012. The Committee on Compensation reviewed the relevant survey information, conducted an annual evaluation of the President, determined the President's compensation and contemporaneously documented its decision. The Committee on Compensation shared its findings and compensation decision with the Board of Trustees.
Schedule J, Part I, Line 4Line 4a - James Larimore received a severance payment in the amount of $110,000. Line 4b - Carolyn Martin deferred compensation contribution $105,100 as of 12/31/14.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2John Middleton and Susan Pikor are Board Members and Stephen Nigro, Kevin Weinman, James Brassord and Lisa Rutherford are officers of Amherst Inn Company.
Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 4During the year ended June 30, 2015, the Trustees of Amherst College amended its By-Laws to increase the number of Board Members from twenty-one to twenty-five. In addition, a quorum was changed from nine members to a simple majority of members then in office.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11bThe financial officers of the College reviewed Form 990, including all schedules with the President of the College, the Audit Committee and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees prior to filing this form. The remaining members of the Board of Trustees were provided a full copy of Form 990 prior to filing with the exception of Schedule B. In order to respect the wishes of donors that gave gifts with the assumption of remaining anonymous, the review of Schedule B was conducted by the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the President of the College.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12cAll individuals covered by the policy complete a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees (the "Secretary") annually. The Secretary accumulates all disclosure statements and furnishes a summary to the Conflict of Interest Review Committee. In all instances where the Conflict of Interest Review Committee determines that a conflict of interest does exist, such conflicts, and their remedy, are disclosed to the Board of Trustees at the next meeting. The Conflict of Interest Committee reports to the Board at least annually.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 14The College has a written document retention and destruction policy that was approved by the College's senior management. Approval of this policy is not required at the full Board of Trustees level.
Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15The College participated in an annual survey of comparable institutions which compared historic salaries and designated benefits for the chief executive officer and senior administrative staff. The College's President reviewed with the Board of Trustees the relevant survey information as well as senior staff performance evaluations and discussed annual salary adjustments. The Board of Trustees delegated to an ad hoc Committee on Compensation, consisting of independent trustees, authority to determine the compensation of the President. As provided in the Compensation Policy for Designated Individuals approved by the Board in May 2012, the Committee on Compensation reviewed the relevant survey information, conducted an annual evaluation of the President, determined the President's compensation and contemporaneously documented its decision. The Committee on Compensation shared its findings and compensation decision with the Board of Trustees.
Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19The Trustees of Amherst College makes its annual financial statements available on its website and mails it to certain interested third parties. The conflict of interest policy is also available on the website.
