Included in the events is the Northern Short Course, a 3-day conference with dozens of lectures and workshops taught by industry leaders on topics relevant to professionals and students in the field, and portfolio reviews conducted by top photo editors and photographers. In addition, NPPA hosts three intense, week-long training workshops in the areas of video news stories, advanced storytelling and multimedia presentations. These highly-regarded programs are a mixture of presentations by award-winning visual journalists; hands-on coaching and candid critiques; and in-the-field assignments. Finally, NPPA also periodically conducts business practices programs, one-day events that help photojournalists create sustainable business models in a changing marketplace. Lectures address basic business principles faced by freelance journalists.Desc
