| Desc | ACR WORKS TO PROTECT CATS ON SEVERAL LEVELS: LOCALLY THROUGH RESCUE, REHABILITATION, ADOPTION; AND NATIONALLY THROUGH A NETWORK OF CAT ACTION TEAMS. ACR IS DEDICATED TO THE HEALTH, WELL BEING, AND WELFARE OF ALL CATS.Over 6,000 cats have found forever homes through ACRs adoption program.More than 30,000 cats, both adoptable and feral, have been sterilized and vetted through our spay/neuter program.In addition, approximately 20,000 feral cats have been sterilized through our National Feral Cat Spay Day campaign, since its inception in 2010. More than 1000 veterinarians in 45 U.S. states have participated in our Feral Cat Spay Day campaign, along with veterinarians in Canada and South Africa. Through this program we also strive to bridge the gap between rescue groups, veterinarians, and cat caretakers.With the help of our small staff and our team of dedicated volunteers, ACR relocates many community cat colonies, when the cats safety is in jeopardy.ACR published Alley Cat Rescues Guide To Managing Community Cats by Louise Holton. This handbook provides and abundance of scientific evidence dispelling misinformation, a how-to guide for implementing TNR, a guide of zoonotic diseases, and much more helpful information regarding community cats.ACR created the first ever fact sheet on proper colony relocation procedures.Through our partnership with animal shelters, we have rescued 1,000 cats from being euthanized in high-kill facilities.ACR partners with shelters to return feral cats to their respective colonies, rather than being euthanized.ACRs National Cat Action Teams network provides an open line of communication between rescue groups and cat caretakers across the country.Staff attends conferences across the United States to help us provide the most up-to-date advances in research, and the most current methods of health care to our cats. Also, to provide the public with the most pertinent information regarding proper cat care, humane population control, zoonotic disease prevention, and humane treatment of all animals.150,000+ Pet Trust brochures have been distributed to assist individuals with the planning for long-term care of their pets.ACRs educational and informative Alley Cat Mews newsletter has won many awards from the Cat Writers Association for numerous years.Action Alerts are distributed by ACRs communications team to notify the public of animal welfare situations needing attention in the U.S., and internationally.Staff and volunteers provide veterinary services and daily life-saving care to multiple community cat colonies across the D.C. Metro area.ACR conducted the first ever feral cat survey. The results showed that feral cats in managed colonies live good, long lives. Some feral cats live until they are between 8 and 14 years old.ACR has conducted a second feral cat survey ACR Supports and promotes the SOI Dogs Foundation mission to end the suffering and torture animals in the Asian cat and dog meat trade.Through the work of an ACR board member, we now run a rescue and TNR operation in California. | Explanation | In general, when tax returns are filed, it is highly certain that some positions taken would be sustained upon examination by the taxing authorities, while others are subject to uncertainty about the merits of the position taken or the amount of the position that would be ultimately sustained. The benefit of a tax position is recognized in the financial statements in the period during which, based on all available evidence, management believes it is more likely than not that the position will be sustained upon examination, including the resolution of appeals or litigation processes, if any. Tax positions taken are not offset or aggregated with other positions. Tax positions that meet the more-likely-than-not recognition threshold are measured as the largest amount of tax benefit that is more than 50 percent likely of being realized upon settlement with the applicable taxing authority. The portion of the benefits associated with tax positions taken that exceeds the amount measured as described above is reflected as a liability for unrecognized tax benefits in the accompanying balance sheets, along with any associated interest and penalties that would be payable to the taxing authorities upon examination.
