Part X : FIN48 Footnote	The Foundation is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and, as such, is exempt from Federal and state income taxes. It has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under Section 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. Accordingly, income tax expense is limited to activities that are deemed by the Internal Revenue Service to be unrelated to their exempt purposes.The Foundation's income tax filings are subject to audit by various taxing authorities. The Foundation's open audit periods are for fiscal years ending June 30, 2014 through June 30, 2017. The Foundation recognizes interest and penalties related to income taxes as administrative and general expenses and has not incurred any of these expenses for the years ended June 30, 2017 and 2016.
