The HELGA rescue center provides a safe haven for rescued girls from early marriage, to ensure retention and participation in their education and reconciliation with their families. The 40 girls at HELGA will not only benefit from gaining their education and escaping oppression, the whole community will become enriched through the new educated adults that have completed their studies through a sustainable rescue center. This grant is providing support for the expansion of their Street Business School which is a six month, mobile classroom uniquely tailored to meet the needs of women living in poverty, many of whom have not finished elelmentary school, lack cofidence or the resources to help themselves or their children out of an oppressed life. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Dignity Period's mission is to keep Ethiopian girls in school by working with local partners to provide quality menstrual hygiene products and education. The WHO and UNICEF have acknowledged that there is a significant link between the poor provision of menstrual hygiene solutions and low female participation in education, improved health and improved overall well being of girls and women. The $10,000 grants will will support the expansion of the Menstrual Dignity Project,which focuses on providing access to menstrual hygiene management supplies and providing access to scientifically accurate information regarding menstruation.
