| Desc | Our goals are:- To increase the number of visitors to Aberdeen with an emphasis on overnight visitors.- To promote the image of Aberdeen.- To promote rural tourism in northeast South Dakota.- To act as a resource to support the Aberdeen area's facilities, attractions, activities and events.- Assist in the promotion of special events in the Aberdeen region.During 2017, Aberdeen, SD hosted over 160 conventions, group and familiarization tours, meetings, sporting and special events. As a result of our marketing efforts tens of thousands of delegates and visitors came to the Aberdeen area. We staff and maintain two visitor centers where we provide information about the community, our facilities, attractions and events. The Visitor Centers also provide regional and state-wide information about SD. The Visitor Centers serviced guests from 48 states, many Canadian provinces and over 22 foreign countries. We print several publications that are distributed to entice visitors to the area and maintain four comprehensive websites, two geared to the leisure tourist and two geared to the hunting and fishing sportsman. We coordinate volunteer assistance (60+ volunteers with 1800+ hours), fulfill requests (4900+ mailed) for visitor information, bid conventions, market outdoor recreation opportunities and host hospitality rooms for sporting events and conventions. | Desc |

| Explanation | The Organization is organized as a South Dakota nonprofit corporation and is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Organization is required to file a Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax (Form 990) with the IRS. In addition, the Organization is subject to income tax on net income that is derived from business activities that are unrelated to their exempt purposes. Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. has determined that it is not subject to unrelated business income tax and has not filed an Exempt Organization Business Income Tax Return (Form 990-T) with the IRS. The Organization believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken affecting its annual filing requirements, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. | Explanation | -) Event Funding Application form must be completed by a member of the organization requesting funds. -) The applicant should complete the application to the AHA at least three (3) months prior to the event. -) Applicant will be required to attend the Aberdeen Hotel Alliance (AHA) Board meeting for a presentation and answer questions. -) Applicant will be required to provide copies of all advertising and promotional pieces including a list radio, television, banners, or other forms of promotion. -) Event funding from the Aberdeen Hotel Alliance MUST be used on the event applied for and as specified in the application. -) Event support will NOT be considered without an itemized budget or proposal from the requesting entity to show the financial need. -) Changes in dates, times, and/or nature of the funded special event may result in forfeiture of all funding. -) If the funded event is not held within the dates given, the award shall be forfeited and returned to the Aberdeen Hotel Alliance, unless the AHA has been notified of a date change. -) Additional fundraising efforts by the requesting organization will have an impact on funding request considerations. -) The Board reserves the right to limit funding to no more than 50% of cash contributions raised by the requesting organization.
