IN 2018, 902 SPECIALLY TRAINED VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 83,000 HOURS OF SERVICE. SOME OF THE VOLUNTEER POSITIONS INCLUDE IN-HOME AND RESIDENTIAL PATIENT AND FAMILY VOLUNTEER; GRIEF SERVICES, ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE WORK, FLOWER ROOM AND KITCHEN VOLUNTEER; VIGIL PROGRAM; AND AGRACE HOSPICECARE CAMPUS GREETER. WITH OUR GUIDANCE, OUR NEIGHBORS ARE BETTER PREPARED TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT THE CARE THEY OR THEIR LOVED ONES RECEIVE. IN 2018, MORE THAN 150 NURSING AND MEDICAL STUDENTS, RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS, PHARMACY STUDENTS AND STUDENTS FROM OTHER HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONS PARTICIPATED IN ROTATIONS AT AGRACE. SINCE THE INITIATION OF THE AGRACE ROTATION PROGRAM IN 1995, APPROXIMATELY 2,300 STUDENTS, INTERNS, RESIDENTS, FELLOWS AND WORKING HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS FROM INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING HAVE COMPLETED AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE AT AGRACE. AGRACE RECEIVES NO REIMBURSEMENT FOR THESE ROTATIONS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF AN ANNUAL STIPEND FROM THE UW-MADISON SCHOOL OF PHARMACY.

Form 990, Part I, Line 1 BRIEF MISSIONAND FAMILIES FACED WITH LIFE-LIMITING ILLNESS, HELPING THEM TO LIVE AS FULLY AS THEY CAN. SIGNIFICANT MISSION-RELATED ACTIVITY TOOK PLACE IN 2018: CELEBRATING 40 YEARS: In 2018, Agrace celebrated its 40th anniversary of being founded by a group of volunteers who believed in the mission of quality, compassionate end-of-life care. RESIDENTIAL HOSPICE BECOMES AVAILABLE IN JANESVILLE: Once dedicated to short-term, acute care, the Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Janesville began offering a new option: residential hospice care. in 2018. Rather than moving to Agrace's Residence in Madison, local patients can now stay closer to home, in a large, private suite where hospice caregivers are nearby around the clock. EXPANDING MISSION AND VISION: IN 2018, Agrace worked to expand our reach into underserved and rural areas of Lafayette, eastern Grant and western Iowa counties in Wisconsin by preparing to open an office in Platteville in January 2019. Adding these counties to our service area brings local residents better access to high-quality end-of-life and palliative care, a move passionately supported by our staff who hail from and currently live in these areas. HELPING EARLIER IN THE CONTINUUM OF CARE: In September 2018, Agrace began offering a new non-medical home care service to help people struggling to remain safe an independent at home as they grow older. Proceeds from the private-pay service are reinvested into programs and services that support Agrace's mission. VET-TO-VET VISITS PROGRAM: in 2018 Agrace developed a detailed, new volunteer training process for Vet-to-Vet visits. When a hospice patient is also a veteran, their military service can affect their end-of-life goals. Agrace's Vet-to-Vet visits support veteran patients by giving them time with a volunteer who can relate to their service and is a willing listener. These visits often build trust and give veterans more personalized care. ROCK COUNTY DIVERSITY AWARD: Agrace received the 2018 YWCA Rock County Dorothy Height Award for Diversity in the Workplace. The honor reflects our broad commitment to diversity and inclusion, including innovative interpreter services, Advancing Inclusion and Equity Committee, and recruitment and retention practices.
