| SCH D, PART X, LINE 2 | The Opera is exempt from income taxes under Section 501 (c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, as amended, and is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as other than a private foundation. Accordingly, no provision or liability for federal and state income taxes has been recorded in the accompanying financial statements. The Opera annually evaluates all federal and state income tax positions. This process includes an analysis of whether these income tax positions the Opera takes meet the definition of an uncertain tax position under the Income Taxes Topic of the Financial Accounting Standards Codification. In the normal course of business, the Opera is subject to examination by the federal and state taxing authorities. In general, the Opera is no longer subject to tax examinations for tax years ending before June 30, 2015. During December 2017, the President of the United States of America signed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (the "Act"). Under the Act, maximum corporate tax rates were reduced from a rate of 35% to a flat rate of 21 %. The Opera's tax liability for any potential unrelated business income tax should not be significant. There are other changes to the tax law that may affect the Opera, but the magnitude of such changes has not been determined. |
