One way to prevent waste, improve our communities, and advance the well-being of our citizens is to take useful donated products from those who no longer want or need them and provide them at a low or no cost to those who want them.Greater Goods Thrift Stores enable Rise to address critical social needs through the delivery of affordable goods and services, while also providing training and employment opportunities for at-risk members of the community. Wrap-around support services tend to be essential for people striving to move beyond poverty-right up to the point of becoming self-reliant. Rise offers a wide range of programs that help struggling members of our local community build independence and achieve their full potential.Our SEV model has a galvanizing collective impact. No longer just a clothing voucher program, it has harnessed the local market to be a centralized nexus of social services. The SEV has become a local force for growth in our business community. New businesses have opened their doors in our area to create a regional shopping destination for resale goods. In 2019, Greater Goods received 4,814 donations to be repurposed. |
