| Part X, Line 2: | The Federation files separate federal and state tax returns for each of its consolidated subsidiaries. ArFB is generally exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code but is required to pay taxes on net taxable unrelated business income. Some of the Federation's for-profit subsidiaries recognize deferred tax assets and liabilities based on differences between financial reporting and tax bases of assets and liabilities. These differences are measured using the enacted tax rates and laws that are expected to be in effect when the differences are expected to reverse. A deferred tax asset is reduced by a valuation allowance if, based on the weight of available evidence, it is more likely than not that a portion or all of the deferred tax asset will not be realized. There were no valuation allowances at October 31, 2019 and 2018. |
