| SCHEDULE D, PART X, LINE 2: | Madison Symphony Orchestra is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization is subject to income tax regulations in the United States federal jurisdiction and the State of Wisconsin. Tax regulations within each jurisdiction are subject to the interpretation of the related tax laws and regulations and require significant judgment to apply. The organization must recognize the tax benefit associated with tax positions taken for tax return purposes when it is more-likely-than-not the position will be sustained. The organization does not believe there are any material uncertain tax positions, and, accordingly, has not recognized any liability for unrecognized tax benefits. For the years ended June 30, 2020 and 2019, there were no interest or penalties recorded or included in the financial statements. Tax returns for the years 2018, 2017, and 2016 are still open and have not passed the statute of limitation for examination. |
