Through this initiative we host monthly webinars and an annual conference aimed at increasing the collective impact of small, rural healthy aging initiatives through shared learning. This project effective builds bridges between volunteer groups, social services agencies and healthcare to better support the social health needs of older people. The priorities were securing additional funding for direct care workers and Meals on Wheels, and increasing general fund allocations to eliminate waitlists for state-funded Home & Community Based Care. The organization sent emails to legislators and members about some of these bills, and joined a coalition of organizations that took out an ad in a local paper encouraging legislators to act to address Maine?s direct care worker crisis. A total of 59 hours were spent attempting to influence state legislation. |
