| Desc | 2024 Form 990 Program AccomplishmentsIn 2024, Just One Africa embarked on an exciting new initiative: the construction of a trauma-informed high school at Lenkai Schools, designed to provide trauma-informed education to over 800 students (per year) from the Maasai community. This critical project builds upon the foundation established at Lenkai Christian School, ensuring that thousands of local children can continue their education beyond primary school. Alongside this flagship project, Just One Africa continued to make a meaningful impact through its Clean Water Programs, distributing 2000 water filters and transforming the lives of up to 50,000 people, and its Sponsorship Program, supporting over 50 children and empowering six to pursue higher educationSustainability Programs Lenkai High School Initiated a new high school trauma-informed building project to educate over 800 students, with a multi-year fundraising initiative to support the construction of classrooms and buildings. Completed the initial phase, including land clearing, permit acquisition, geotechnical earth tests, and architectural design of the campus. Fenced the seven-acre property with a strong, solar-powered animal and people-proof fence. Drilled a 600-foot deep borehole to provide a safe and sustainable source of drinking water for the campus. Completed the foundation for a 60-foot high water tower and 30,000-liter tank, which will supply water pressure to the entire campus. | Part I, Line 2: | Part I, Line 2 - Monitoring of Funds: Before making a grant, Just One Africa (JOA) ensures each organization is a registered organization in their country and that funds are only used for charitable purposes, and that they are able to responsibly carry out the charitable project proposed by evaluating their past performance, the feasibility of the activities they propose. JOA checks the names of all organization board members and key staff members against the US and UN watch lists. Representatives from JOA conduct in-person visits multiple times per year to review past projects and research future projects. Grant funds are provided based on an annual grant agreement and grant agreement adendums. Funds are transferred from the U.S. monthly upon receipt of adequate documentation from grantee including but not limited to: receipts, written reports and pictures. |
