DescPROGRAM SERVICE ACTIVITY #1 The Foundation-funded Presbyterian Robert Wertheim Hospice House was completed in 2022 and had a limited, "soft" opening as hiring and operations ramped up. The $3.6 million facility was funded entirely with philanthropy. The 10-bed facility is projected to serve up to 300 patients a year when fully operational. It is the only full-service, residential hospice facility in central New Mexico and fills a long-standing need in the community for residential hospice care.Desc

Funds totaling $431,446 were awarded in 2022 with significant support for Community Health priorities such as the Food Farmacy program, a referral-based food pantry program; virtual-based Community Health education courses, which provide fitness, healthy cooking and other instruction; and emergency patient assistance funds for transportation, housing and other needs affecting health and employment. The Laughter is the Best Medicine gala raised $477,000 for the Peer Support program, which helps patients with substance use disorder.Desc

DescPresbyterian Healthcare Foundation was founded in 1968 as one of the first 100 hospital foundations in the country. More than 54 years later, we remain committed to our goal of improving health. Throughout our history, our fundraising has been focused on four major areas: nursing/staff education, patient basic needs, program support and capital needs (facility construction/renovation and equipment). Sometimes, charitable contributions provide critical seed funding to launch new programs and compete for external funding - as was the case in recent years with nationally recognized nursing residency and Presbyterian Community Health programs. Philanthropy can also help to launch and sustain programs that would otherwise be non-sustainable with limited or non-existent clinical revenue. Charitable support has never been more important, in light of the current economic climate for healthcare both locally and nationwide. The cost of Foundation operations has been self-funded for over 20 years, which allows 100% of donor gifts to be directed to programs with nothing redirected to administrative or fundraising expenses. In 2022, the Foundation raised more than $6.3 million and provided nearly $8.2 million in immediate funding to Presbyterian programs. Included in these amounts are cash, estate and in-kind contributions and special event income. As of December 2022, net assets were $120.2 million. Governance and Organization: The Foundation is governed by a 36-member Board of Directors. Members are nominated by the PHF Board Governance Committee and reflect a cross-section of business and community leaders. Nominations are approved by the PHF and PHS Board. The Chair of the Foundation Board is an ex- officio member of the Presbyterian Central New Mexico Community Board of Trustees. The Foundation Board meets at least four times per year and has additional meetings as necessary. Interim decision-making is accomplished via the Executive Committee, which consists of the Board Chair, Chair Elect, Past Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and PHF President. The Foundation President also oversees the Presbyterian Volunteer Services programs for PHS Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe facilities, including 600+ active volunteers. These volunteers serve in a number of areas and positions throughout Presbyterian Medical Group clinics and at Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Rust Medical Center, Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital and Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center. 1. Fundraising for Specific Programs: The Foundation solicits gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations, and facilitates a number of fundraising campaigns and special events throughout the year designed to raise funds for both specific causes and general health system needs. These efforts include: * Major and Planned Gifts: The Foundation solicits transformative gifts through major and planned giving initiatives. Major gifts are defined as single or multi-year contributions of $10,000 or more and may be designated for capital and program needs. Funding can be immediately expendable or to create or supplement an endowed (permanent) fund. Planned gifts are most often given in the form of bequests (gift designation in a will or living trust), as well as retirement and life insurance beneficiary designations. In 2022, dollars received in major and planned gifts received totaled $2,654,651. Additional pledges in major and planned gifts were $1,488,395. Together, they accounted for 57 percent of total dollars raised by the Foundation. * Daffodil Days: This annual event is 40 years old. Each spring, with the help of hundreds of volunteers, fresh daffodils are prepared and sold throughout the community. Proceeds are directed to operations of the new Presbyterian Robert Wertheim Hospice House, which opened on a limited basis in 2022. In 2022, Daffodil Days had net proceeds of $185,000. * Laughter is the Best Medicine: Each year, this gala event raises funds to support a priority project of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. This event features a silent auction, gourmet dinner and live entertainment from a comedian. In 2022, proceeds were directed to Presbyterian Community Health's Peer Support Specialist program, which helps patients with substance use disorder and behavioral health issues. Net proceeds totaled $485,000. * Cornerstone Campaign: The Community Cornerstone Campaign is Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation's annual fund drive focusing on gifts of less than $10,000 from community (non-employee) donors. Cornerstone is the backbone of the Foundation's fundraising efforts focusing on new donor acquisition and retention. The Foundation's Guardian Angel program, which seeks gifts in honor of any provider or staff member, is a key part of the Cornerstone program, recognizing that gratitude for an exceptional care experience is a primary motivator for philanthropy. * PRESGiving Campaign: PRESGiving is the annual employee campaign, seeking payroll, cash and paid time off contributions. The campaign has two primary components: 1) recruitment of new employee donors through the "Brilliance in the Basicsientation; and 2) a six-week fall campaign conducted in partnership with United Way of North Central New Mexico. PRESGiving contributions to PHF typically exceed $1 million annually for programs and needs throughout Presbyterian. 2. Philanthropic Impact: Gifts to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation support staffing and equipment needs, as well as patient assistance and amenities. The Foundation aims to align philanthropy with Presbyterian's top organizational priorities. The Foundation directed significant funding in 2022 to nursing and staff education. Philanthropy supported 103 scholarships for nurses or staff pursuing nursing careers. Dollars were applied toward tuition and related expenses. Additional funds were awarded to nurses and other clinical staff for educational opportunities providing advanced training, often to earn or maintain certifications to deliver specialized care. In light of the enormous demands of the pandemic on healthcare providers and staff, as well as high levels of burnout reported nationally, the Foundation prioritized the well-being of frontline caregivers. Philanthropy funded a three-part workshop for physicians and advanced practice clinicians, known as RESET; the Provider Well-Being and Burnout ECHO Clinic, which provides a confidential forum to share experiences and provide support to colleagues; and the RENEWAL program for nurses. In a year of reduced operational funding for minor capital needs throughout Presbyterian, philanthropy funded significantly more equipment needs than in recent history. A wide range of needs throughout our hospitals and clinics was supported. Growing the Neuroscience program remained a top fundraising priority. Funds were directed to Presbyterian Hospital for Neurosurgery equipment. Additionally, funds were awarded to launch a tele-neurology consultation service at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center and Presbyterian regional delivery system hospitals. Following completion of the new Presbyterian Robert Wertheim Hospice House - the first full-service, residential hospice facility in central New Mexico - the Foundation transferred funds totaling $3.2 million toward a $3.6 million commitment for construction of the 10-bed facility. Fundraising continues toward a $500,000 annual obligation toward operations of the facility, which is expected to serve as many as 300 patients annually. The Foundation returned significant funding to PHS for two major building projects: 1) a new, warm water therapy pool at the Presbyterian Healthplex, the Presbyterian Rehabilitation Services Duane and Barbara Trythall Aquatic Therapy Natatorium; and 2) a Presbyterian Breast Care facility at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center, which includes diagnostic, imaging and patient care services.Desc

Form 990, Part III, Line 4d Description of other program services(Expenses $ 3,706,428 including grants of $ 3,348,700)(Revenue $ 0) Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation was founded in 1968 as one of the first 100 hospital foundations in the country. The Foundation returned significant funding to PHS for two major building projects: 1) a new, warm water therapy pool at the Presbyterian Healthplex, the Presbyterian Rehabilitation Services Duane and Barbara Trythall Aquatic Therapy Natatorium; and 2) a Presbyterian Breast Care facility at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center, which includes diagnostic, imaging and patient care services.
