The number of unique users who contribute research and download materials at the website http://voer.edu.vn is 50,000 to 80,000 per day. In peak period, this number can reach 100,000 users. To accommodate the rising crowd of users, we have been developing further user-needed functions for our Hanoi Spring software and maintaining strong hardware with 5 servers at our data center. | Desc | Khan Academy Vietnam (KAV)Khan Academy Vietnams mission is to accelerate the self-learning capabilities of more than 22 millions students in Vietnam. At the same time, KAV also equips teachers with a powerful learning management system that better facilitates the teaching and learning process, and allows parents to monitor their kids academic performance more easily at home. Moreover, KAV expands students learning opportunities, in which students can easily have access to Math and Science lessons in both Vietnamese and English, as well as free SAT practice. KAVs support to schools, teachers and students is always at no cost. Authorized by Khan Academy USA since 2020, VNF has been localizing K-12 Math contents while Science, Computing and Life Skills subjects will be our next priorities. We have built meaningful alliances with prominent academic institutions in Vietnam such as the Vietnam National Institute of Educational Sciences, the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, and local Departments of Education and Training. Through these alliances, we are able to ensure that KATV contents are appropriately aligned with the official national K-12 curriculum so KATV can help strengthen Vietnamese students in their daily study. | Form 990, Part III, Line 4d: Other Program Services Description | OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Programs for the BlindSun Flower College Scholarship: This program provides tuition scholarships to all blind students who got admissions into colleges and universities in Ho Chi Minh City. It is the first and only program of its kind. From the beginning with only 4 scholarships recipients, we now have helped hundreds of scholars to attend college and graduate with bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. This year, we supported 39 scholars. Most of them are from poor families where their blindness is an extra burden. Many of the scholars are second or third generation victims of Agent Orange that was used during the Vietnam War. The graduates of our program are leading giving productive lives across Vietnam. They are teachers, NGO leaders, business owners, performing artists, and even local officials. They are shining examples of what one can do through education. Laptops for Students: To invest further in their education, we have awarded laptops to first-year students. This important tool helps the students in their study, research and outreach to the world. Our limited financial resources did not allow us to provide more laptops to the students, but now with the invention of the 360 Machine (laptop without screens), we will be able to give every scholarship recipient a special laptop computer without a screen suitable for their needs. This year, VNF awarded 55 laptops to the blind. We also provide the recipients a short course on how to use these specialized laptops. Total expense is $16,543.19. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Support for schools in underprivileged areas. Total expense: $16,762.49. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Project See Again:This project aims to restore sight to cataract patients in Vietnam. These are poor people who cannot afford for a cataract implant surgery.
