| X 2 | Orbis was incorporated in the State of New York and is exempt from Federal and State Income Taxes under section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code The Code. The Internal Revenue Service IRS has ruled that pursuant to section 501c3 of The Code, Orbis is exempt from Federal Income Taxes and is a publicly supported organization, as defined in section 509a1 of The Code. As a Not-For-Profit Organization, Orbis is also exempt from State and Local Income Taxes. Accordingly, Orbis is not subject to Income Taxes except to the extent it has taxable income from activities that are not related to its exempt purposes. Orbis utilizes a threshold of more-likely-than-not for recognition and derecognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. No provision for income taxes was required for Fiscal Year 2023 or 2022. |
| V 4 | Board-Designated Endowment The board of directors has established a fund to provide for the long term financial stability of Orbis. The purpose of this fund is to provide a mechanism for the board of directors to set aside and invest certain fund. Accordingly, the board of directors has designated portions of surpluses in operating funds for this purpose. Donor-Restricted Endowment In further support of the long-term financial stability of the organization, Orbis received donations for which the principal must be maintained in perpetuity. Orbis maintains a spending rate policy on the invested assets. The spending rate policy was designed to preserve the value of the investment portfolio in real terms and to reduce the impact of market fluctuations on operations. The spending rate used for operations is set at 4.0 of the prior two year rolling average fair value. |

A total of 66 active programs were implemented in 11 countries Bangladesh, Bolivia, China, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Mongolia, Peru, South Africa, Vietnam and Zambia through 328 strategic partners and in 41 new program locations. By the end of 2023, Orbis had supported a total of 542 health facilities, conducted 2,746,824 eye screenings and examinations, enabled 647,743 patient visits to health facilities, prescribed 88,358 eyeglasses, conducted 32,076 trainings, and supported 24,168 eye surgeries. Additionally, 8,848,523 doses of Azithromycin and Tetracycline eye ointment were distributed in Ethiopia to meet the goals of the Trachoma Elimination program. There were 24 Hospital Based Trainings conducted in country programs using a blended learning approach. It is worthy to note that the Flying Eye Hospital FEH conducted their first ever Artificial Intelligence simulation aboard the airplane. The workshop was delivered remotely by the Cybersight team while trainees participated hands-on in the FEH classroom. Two in-person FEH training programs were held in Vietnam and Zambia, and a virtual program convened in Chile. Cybersight Orbis Internationals digital training platform expanded its global reach and had 15,085 new users, a 20 growth. There was also a 33 growth in Cybersight library content, with 350 multi-language items added, including lectures, quizzes, surgical videos, textbooks, and manuals. |
