Program 1 Women and Girlss menstrual hygiene Education and supplies CCF works to educate Nepali women men about menstruation so they can begin to demystify the process Our goal is to assist in removing a major barrier for womens and girls participation in school and work by educating on menstrual health and hygiene and to help women understand and care for their bodies In our trainings we provide a reusable menstrual hygiene kits b Nepali centric Menstrual hygiene educational materials c instruction on how the process of menstrualtion works and how to care for their bodies and d instruction on how to sew their own reusable kits Ours is a comprehensive approach to womens health care which will lead to their future participation and greater health while menstruating Grant 1- Reusable Menstrual Hygiene Kit production- CCF has been funding the production of reusable menstrual kits in Nepal for use in our menstrual hygiene training programs When CCF funds a training we produce enough reusable kits to distribute to women receiving the trainings Each kit contains 3 liners 5 napkins 1 soap 2 underwear and a cloth carrying bag with instructions for care and use These kits cost CCF 850 and provide employment for 1 woman in Kathmandu In 2023 CCF produced 1270 kits for our menstrual hygiene trainings Grant 2 2-4 day menstrual hygiene trainings- Sunsari Tsum Valley Kathmandu Khadari Nepal Each of the above trainings met with great success and the participants were very enthusiastic They learned about their bodies and good menstrual health They gained insight into different types of menstrual hygiene products and enjoyed learning how to make their own pads They are now eager to teach their friends and families and said they had learned many new things about their bodies Evaluations were collected and they responded that they would like to see these trainings in the schools The reusable kits were seen as very valuable since disposable pads are expensive and hard to dispose of in the village areas Not having to buy disposable pads would save each woman 3000-5000 Nepali Rs per year 25-40 US which is money they can use for other purposes$29Yes (X)
Program 2 Education Keeping girls and marginalized children in school CCF understands the positive change that comes from empowering women and educating their daughters in Nepal We have seen a lack of infrastructural support for women who are often the sole income earners for their entire extended families and the impact this has on their daughters many of whom are taken out of school due to lack of sufficient family finances The longer a girl is able to stay in school the longer she remains unmarried and the more choices she has in life As a girl grows older the fight to get an education becomes even harder Her family must have the ability to pay school fees and be willing to do so The stipend program that CCF funds allows a women to keep her daughter in school without drawing resources from the family In Nepal if a familys resources dwindle one of the first things to be cut are a familys investments in girls education With the stipend families are able to keep girls in school without sacrificing their own depleted funds Our Grantees educational programs supporte in 2023 a 117 children in need in class K-10 b 3 college scholarships class 11-12 for merit and need based girls who competed for and were awarded the scholarships c a college educated mentor and program administrator who gave parents access to educational resources and mentoring to those who have little knowledge of how to navigate the educational systems$10,110Yes (X)
