As Maasai become less nomadic because of land demarkation, the need to community sewage plans are needed. MSPF has assisted in digging pit latrines and building toilet structures at rural schools and village centers. Malaria is endemic in these regions causing sickness and sometimes death, especially of young children and the aged. We are completing the full 990 form this year (2025) because of an unexpected revenue from a windfall sale of a property donated many years ago. The MSPF Board is working to determine next steps for not only use of these funds, but also what kind of accounting services to engage. Previously, the annual amounts were so little that it was easy for our volunteers to account and report. Similarly, with water projects, MSPF requires a request with a local bid for the projected costs. Post completion, MSPF required receipts for purchased materials and invoices paid. With training projects, MSPF required documentation of expenses. Schedule F, Part III No individual student receives monies- MSPF funds are dispersed to local indigenous community committees who pay the school fees and educational expenses and return to MSPF paid receipts. General major program expenses are paid directly by MSPF. During 2025, the organization sold real property that had been donated to the organization in a prior year (over 10 years ago). Because the organization has historically been a very small volunteer-administered charity filing Form 990-N, the donated property had not previously been recorded on the organization's books. The organization has recorded a prior-period adjustment of $150,000 to reflect the basis/value used for the previously donated property and has reported the sale of the property on Form 990, Part VIII, line 7. The organization is filing Form 990 for 2025 because the property sale produced unusually high gross receipts and year-end assets. 2025-08-08 159342 This sale and the proceeds are reflected in Part VIII line 7. The Gross Sale Price was $575,000. Net proceeds received were $565,658. Selling / closing costs charged to MSPF amounted to $9,342. Prior property basis / value was $150,000.Thus the total put in line c is $159,342 (market value + closing expenses). This resulted in a gain of 415, 658.
