The curriculum is an innovative course of instruction on the history and principles of the United States constitutional democratic republic. The We the People print textbooks' interactive strategies, relevant content, and simulated congressional hearings make teaching and learning exciting for students and teachers. NDHC hosted one teacher institute and one state competition that reached an estimate of 220 students and 17 teachers. 100193 8734 PUBLIC UNIVERSITY: The Study provides live, interactive classes and educational events focused on the humanities - including history, literature, philosophy, civic life, and related subjects - all without grades or tests, aimed at lifelong learners statewide. Classes are led by knowledgeable instructors and offered online and at physical locations. All applications are required to submit a written application describing their proposed project in detail and a budget which conforms to specific guidelines. Successful applications sign a grant agreement and submit reports, both narrative and financial, at the end of the project detailing their activities and expenses. Any significant changes to the project activities or budget must receive written approval in advance. Grantees are subject to federal audit requirements due to the amount of federal financial assistance received by the organization are required to inform the NDHC of any audit findings which are relevant to the expenditure of the grant funds. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Form 990 and related schedules were prepared by the Financial Director and reviewed by the Executive Director. An Electronic copy of the form 990 and related schedules was emailed to each member of the NDHC Board of Directors and comments were solicited before the return was filed with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c At each meeting with the Board of Directors actual and potential conflicts of interest are discussed and ruled on the chair before discussions and voting grant applications or potential projects to take place. Any board members deemed to have conflict of interest are excused from the meeting during the discussion and abstain from voting on the relevant grant applications or project. The chair monitors the outside activities of the Executive Director to ensure no actual or potential conflicts of interests exist. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 The compensation of the Executive Director is reviewed annually and any adjustments are approved by the Board of Directors. The Executive Commitee conducts the annual performance review and part of that review involves analyzing the salary data for Executive Directors in the region.(provided by the Federation of State Humanities Councils). All Board actions related to the Executive Director compensation are recorded in the board meeting minutes. The most recent performance review took place at the October, 2025 board meeting. The governing documents (articles of incorporations, bylaws, policy manuals. etc.) are also available to the general public upon request. Form 990, Part IX, Line 11g Humanities Scholar Fees: Fees paid to authors, historians, writers, and other humanities professionals for research, magazine articles, program coordination, marketing coordination, and humanities presentations.
