The collection is used for educational purposes, photography, drawing and other art classes and is periodically exhibited in the University's art gallery which is open to students and the public Outreach is also done to provde childern from the Milwaukee Public School system opportunities to view and study the pieces in the collection. Part IV, Line 2b: The University serves as a custodian of cash held for student organizations, security deposits for residence hall accommodations, advance payments for student charges, and funds from the federal government for the purpose of offering Perkins Loans to students. Funds for student organizations are disbursed on behalf of the student organizations based on requisitions approved by the Dean of Students who oversees the student organizational activity. Security deposits are returned to students or lost by students based on the inspection of resident hall facilities when students move out. Advance payments from students are recognized as revenue when students take courses or are refunded to students if they elect to unenroll from their courses with in the allowable registration period. Part X: Description of Uncertain Tax Positions Under FIN 48: On August 1, 2009, the University adopted the Financial Accounting Standards Board's new accounting requirements for accounting for uncertain tax positions. Under these new requirements, a tax position that meets the more-likely-than-not recognition threshold is initially and subsequently measured as the largest amount of tax benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon settlement with a taxing authority that has full knowledge of all relevant information.
