TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT QUALITY AFTER SCHOOL EDUCATION FOR NEW YORK CITY'S YOUTH, PASE PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES, INCLUDING TRAINING WORKSHOPS, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, SEMINARS, INSTITUTES, BEST PRACTICE PANELS AND FORUMS TO STAFF OF YOUTH SERVING ORGANIZATIONS IN ALL FIVE BOROUGHS AND NEW JERSEY.In the last two program years (July 2008 - June 2010), PASE's centralized training events had a total attendance of nearly 10,000 afterschool program staff. This number does not reflect the many hundreds more that PASE reached through its intensive onsite consultations for afterschool programs. Over this period, PASE has convened 4 forums with a total attendance of over 450.With the recognition that small agencies are uniquely suited to serve their communities and often benefit greatly from even small amounts of targeted assistance, PASE conducted three programs that included an emphasis on developing smaller agencies' capacity to improve program quality and sustain themselves long-term. The Communities Empowering Youth, Advancing Communities for Youth, and Supporting Afterschool Agencies in Turbulent Times initiatives provided over 1,500 hours of technical assistance to over 75 agencies while reaching hundreds of other agencies through over 1,000 hours of centralized training, 4 webinars, and 6 symposia. From 2005 to 2010, as the contracted provider of training and support services for DYCD's OST initiative, PASE carried out approximately 1,750 hours of organizational consultations each year for the more than 600 agencies that are part of DYCD's Out-of-School Time (OST) initiative. In total, PASE has conducted more than 500 trainings for almost 13,000 teachers, program staff, and managers at OST organizations ranging from single-site agencies to large multi-service organizations. PASE is currently contracted by DYCD to provide professional development for frontline staff of over 600 OST programs and to support the 33 OST Transition to High School Programs in providing academic enrichment to adolescent youth.
