The organization completed a detailed property assessment of riverfront properties in the proposed river district of Racine to help the city identify strong candidates for brownfield cleanup, purchase, and potential redevelopment. Through our continued on-the-ground work in urban areas such as Racine and the communities in the Menomonee and Kinnikinnick River watersheds (via Sweetwater Trust), we worked closely with local citizens to turn the focus of their communities back to the river and encourage strong and effective public participation in decisions around managing and revitalizing these urban rivers. We also provided organizational training and support to more than thirty river and watershed organizations. The organization also works closely with and has regular communication with the group to ensure that grant funds are used properly. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11 The prepared Form 990 is reviewed by the members of the organization's finance committee before the return is filed with the IRS. Any significant matters noted during the review are communicated to the members of the governing body as considered necessary. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Annually all directors and officers complete and sign a statement disclosing interests that could give rise to conflicts. The signed statements are kept at the organization's administrative office and are reviewed periodically. The members of the governing body make determinations of whether a conflict exists and review actual conflicts. Any person with a conflict is prohibited from participating in the governing body's deliberations and decisions in the transaction. The members of the committee review data on compensation paid by comparable organizations for similar positions to determine the executive director's compensation. The members of the Finance Committee and the governing body approve the Executive Director's compensation as part of the annual budgeting process.
