Individual meetings, referral to community resources, and in-house life skills classes in areas such as parenting, healthy relationships, decision making, and consumer education including budgeting, were offered to provide skills and information to overcome the identified barriers. All 4 families who left the program during this year successfully completed the program and obtained permanent housing.Liberty House, a transitional shelter program for veterans, served 22 men in fiscal year 2009 - 2010. Each veteran received case management to identify their specific barriers to returning to permanent housing. Individual meetings and counselling, referral to community and veteran resources, and in-house life skills classes were offered to provide skills and information to overcome the identified barriers. Of the 15 veterans who left the program during this year, 10 successfully completed the program and obtained permanent housing.Refuge/Hope, a transitional shelter program for families with children, served 17 families consisting of 45 individuals during fiscal year 2009 - 2010. These families were provided a longer stay at The Refuge to allow time to address some larger issues that were preventing them from obtaining permanent housing. Each family received case management, individual meetings, referral to community resources,and in-house life skills classes in areas such as parenting, healthy relationships, decision making, and consumer education including budgeting. Of the 16 families who left the program during this year, 10 successfully completed the program and obtained permanent housing.Project Hope Outreach served 142 clients on the streets and in emergency shelters during fiscal year 2009 - 2010, including 83 men, 50 women, and 9 children. These folks were provided basic necessities such as food, clothing (including coats, gloves, hats, socks, underwear), and personal hygiene items. Bus tokens were provided to those folks needing transportation to appointments and photo identification documents and birth certificates were obtained for those needing these items. People newly homeless or living on the streets were helped to gain access to shelter. 69180 67043 RAINBOW CONNECTION THRIFT STORE:The Rainbow Connection Thrift Store distributed items free through a voucher system to clients of the EUMA and 22 other community agencies. During fiscal year 2009 - 2010, 926 adults and 438 children received $21,886 worth of clothing. Items were also sold very inexpensively to the general public to help individuals and families living in poverty obtain clothing and household items they needed while providing some income to support the operations of the store and the ministries of the Erie United Methodist Alliance. 154456 111381 THE REFUGE:The Refuge, an emergency homeless shelter for families with children, served61 families consisting of 73 adults and 97 children, during fiscal year 2009- 2010. Families were provided with shelter, food, clothing, case mangement, life skills classes, individual meetings, referral to community services, and furnishings for their new homes upon discharge.
