SchD_P05_S00_L04 Schedule D, Part V, Line 4 CJP's endowment funds support varied programs in the Jewish community of greater Boston including Jewish education, housing for disabled persons, refugee assistance, employment and CJP's long-term ability to provide such services in the future. SchD_P10_S00_L00 Schedule D, Part X CJP is recognized as an organization exempt from income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. However, certain activities of exempt organizations, to the extent profitable, may be subject to Federal and state taxation as unrelated business income. CJP recognizes the financial statement benefit of a tax position only after determining that the relevant tax authority would more likely than not sustain the position following an audit. For tax positions meeting the more-likely-than-not threshhold, the amount recognized in the financial statements is the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement with the relevant tax authority. CJP has applied this more-likely-than-not threshhold to all tax positions for which the statute of limitations remains open and determined there were no material unrecognized tax benefits as of June 30, 2010 and 2009. It is CJP's policy to record estimated interest and penalties (if any) as part of management and general expense. Management believes that CJP's income tax returns for fiscal years 2006 and prior are no longer subject to examination by taxing authorities.
