There were 1,005 performances in total and Roundabout employed 928 production artists for 1,852 union actor work weeks. Roundabout's 2008/09 productions were recognized with 31 award nominations and 5 wins. 673388 82370 ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT - In an effort to develop new works for the stage and provide an artistic home to artists, Roundabout undertook a number of initiatives during the 2009/10 season. Through Roundabout Underground the company helped to nurture the career of a young unproduced playwright by producing a full-scale production of a new work, which ran for 10.5 weeks in the theatre's 62-seat Black Box Theatre. In order to build younger audiences, all Underground tickets were priced at $20. During the 2009/10 season, Roundabout supported 11 commission projects to emerging and established playwrights. To further develop new work, Roundabout conducted 23 artistic readings and workshops of new plays and works under consideration. And through the Associate Artists Program, Roundabout provided an artistic home for six outstanding artists who received a stable base of support and opportunities to suggest projects to RTC at any point in their development. 972949 290475 EDUCATION PROGRAMS - During the 2009/10 season, Education@Roundabout continued its work in underprivileged communities by bringing its programs to 6,487 students and 2,172 educators at 121 New York City public middle schools and high schools. Roundabout's in-depth educational programming addresses today's need for young people to develop skills in critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving. Education@Roundabout programs serve students that are reflective of New York City's diverse socio-economic tapestry. Over 60% of student participants in our education programs live in poverty and over 90% are from ethnic minority groups. Supplemental Information Part III part ii - retention agreements related to compensation In 2005, the Theatre entered into a retention agreement with the Artistic Director under which, upon the completion of continuous service until May 7, 2018, he will receive a lump-sum of $3.2 million. It is the Theatre's intention to make sinking-fund payments of $142,000 annually to fully fund this obligation over the life of the agreement, assuming a 7% discount rate. Through August 31, 2010, a cumulative total of $1,086,835 has been accrued and is fully funded. Should the Theatre replace the Artistic Director or curtail his duties other than for cause, partial payment would be due if such action occurred prior to the eighth anniversary, with full payment due if thereafter.
