Community professionals teach hands-on classes in areas ranging from robotics and web design to architecture and writing. The goal is to expose students to innovative programming in math, science, technology, engineering, and humanities. Most classes have a maximum enrollment of 10 students to foster in-depth contact between the instructor and the students. SA also collaborates with many school districts and PTAs to offer specialized programming to TAG students, and free after-school classes for low-income children. 296303 238539 "ASE Apprenticeships" address the nation's need for a technologically savvy, well-educated and diverse workforce of the future. ASE places high school students in eight-week, full time, internships with a mentor in science or engineering. During the internships, students are exposed to the kinds of careers available in science and engineering, enabling them to make choices about high school classes, college, and majors. Students in rural areas are shown the kinds of careers available in their own areas.
