The health and wellness needs of residents are addressed at all levels of care. Most residents receive primary care from onsite physicians who are board certified in internal medicine and specialize or are board certified in geriatric medicine. 2010 Statistics: Volunteers provided 259 hours of service assisting with the delivery of medications to residents. RESIDENT EDUCATION: Community wide seminars on a variety of health and wellness topics are provided weekly throughout most of the year by Foulkeways professional staff and guest lecturers. 2010 Statistics: Approximately 15 hours of formal health related educational training was provided to all residents. HEALTH PROMOTION AND MAINTENANCE: Residents at any level of care may take part in the Wellness Program. The Fitness Center, including an indoor 65' by 25' pool (equipped with chair lifts for handicapped accessibility) and a fully equipped exercise facility is available to all residents, priority list members and staff. Resident sponsored wellness activities further contribute to the variety of programming. 2010 Statistics: Approximately 625 non-billable health promotion programs were provided to the residents; Approximately 500 non-billable health care screenings were provided to the residents. LEVELS OF CARE: Independent Living - residents are able to demonstrate independence in all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). Personal Care (Abington House) - residents require minimal to moderate assistance with Activities of Daily Living. Skilled Nursing Facility (Gwynedd House) - the majority of skilled care residents are in their 90's and often have a strong preference to be treated with less invasive technologies at Foulkeways. 2010 Statstics: There were 428 hours of volunteer time spend greeting visitors and family at the Reception Desk; Volunteers made rounds in Gwynedd House delivering beverages and conversation which contributed 617 hours of service to inpatient residents. Volunteers provided 176 hours of one-on-one time visiting Abington House and Gwynedd House residents. For residents receiving hospice care, approximately 30 volunteer hours were donated to end of life support. STAFF EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Required regulatory seminars are provided annually in an interdepartmental format to enhance education and communication between departments. Ongoing educational opportunities are provided on a montly basis to nursing staff. 2010 Statistics: A volunteer registered nurse provided 93 hours of staff education in 2010. 3586645 0 261853 DINING SERVICES PROGRAM: The Dining Service Program at Foulkeways offers residents and staff three meals per day in three different dining venues. Along with regular meal services, catering is offered to compliment the resident's culinary needs on a request basis. There is a dietitian on the team who presents education seminars to all residents on nutrituional awareness and healthy eating. The dietitian supports care plans developed for all personal care and skilled care occupants as well as reviewing the nutritional program offered to all residents. 2010 Statistics: Meals served in Independent Dining Room - 40,892; in Personal Care Dining Room - 65,674; in Skilled Nuring Care neighborhoods - 38,667; in Meadow Cafe - 57,097; Catering - 9,246; Employee meals - 73,634. During 2010 Dining Service partnered with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) to provide life skills training to high school students who are eligible for the MCIU Transition to Employment Program. 2010 Statistics: Volunteer hours received through MCIU Program - 938. 1631597 0 13360 MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT: The Maintenance Department of Foulkeways is established to provide building and property support to the older persons who live on the campus and to maintain the work areas of the employees who care for them. The department is responsible for maintaining and repairing approximately 413,000 square feet of buildings and 100 acres of land. The buildings include 261 garden and two-story apartments, a personal care building with 53 suites and 6 single rooms and a skilled nursing facility with 40 rooms. Areas used by the entire community include a Community Center with an auditorium, fine dining room, bistro style cafe, bank, activities areas, and main offices. There is also a Wellness facility that contains an indoor pool and gym with workout equipment. The department is also responsible for performing upgrades and improvements to apartments, personal care rooms and skilled care rooms that are being re-occupied by new entrants. The Board Chair gathers information both verbally and written from Board Members regarding the perfomance of the CEO and then obtains salary information from various salary surveys of comparable organizations from the Director of Human Resources. The Board Chair also receives a recap of the previous year's goals and the goals for the upcoming year from the CEO. The CEO Evaluation Committee meets and reviews all the information.
