<Description>Tutorial House-College admissions results for the class of 2010 continue to bring distinction to the UNIS community. Out of a graduating class of 126 students, 121 students enrolled in 80 colleges and universities in the United States and abroad. UNIS offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate(IB) diploma; the objectives of the IB are to provide students with a balanced and rigorous education, to facilitate geographic and cultural mobility, and to promote international understanding. Candidates follow an intensive prescribed curriculum in grades 11 and 12 that, upon completion is equivalent to the first year of college. Among the class of 2010,98 students participated in the IB diploma program; 90 students earned the diploma. This represents a 92% pass rate, compared to the world pass rate of 79%.Middle School-Middle School is a critical period for social, emotional and intellectual growth. The MS curriculum is one of academic rigor and builds upon the basics learned in previous years, adding new subjects and additional language options. Nine languages are taught in total, with mother tongue instruction available in each. Students can add study of a third language in addition to the French or Spanish taught since Junior School. Students who speak a language other than English at home and who are not fluent in English are assessed by the English as a second language(ESL) teachers and placed in beginning, intermediate, or advanced ESL classes, or in a full mainstream program at the appropriate grade level. Technology training builds on skills previously acquired, and adds the fundamentals of programming, data analysis and visual design.Junior School- The Junior School provides a supportive, nurturing environment that is an excellent transition from home to school. Children are taught self-reliance and personal responsibility in an atmosphere that fosters self-esteem and respect for others. From their very first day, students learn that they are part of a vibrant international community and are encouraged to form a global perspective. French, Spanish, Art, Music and movement are taught alongside traditional subjects. Computer studies begin in the early grades and are viewed as vital tools for communication, problem solving and information retrieval. English as a second language (ESL) is provided for students with limited English proficiency, and French and Spanish mother tongue classes are offered.</Description>

<Explanation>The Assistant Executive Director sends out a conflict of interest policy questionnaire which is signed by each board member. The Board monitors compliance with the conflict of interest policy by requiring all trustees, officers and key employees to annually sign the conflict of interest policy and to disclose any potential conflicts of interest. UNIS has a traditional conflict of interest policy which will be updated to include relevant definitions in the new form 990.</Explanation>

        <Identifier>Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15</Identifier>
<Explanation>Compensation for the executive director is determined by the UNIS board of directors on the recommendation of the compensation committee. No individuals with a conflict of interest may be involved in the compensation determination process. Comparable data for similarly qualified persons in functionally comparable positions at similarly situated organizations is prepared by the organization and reviewed by the board of directors, including information prepared by an independent compensation consultant hired by UNIS. The minutes of the board of directors and the compensation committee document the board and committeee's deliberations and decisions regarding compensation. The school hired a consultant who reviewed compensation of other officers and key employees, benchmarked these employees compensation against similarly situated organizations and used 990's and other data to obtain meaningful data for comparison. The review was last performed by Howard Green Associates in December 2009.</Explanation>
