Once reviewed, It is given to the Finance committee and executive director for their review. It is then sent to the entire board for their questions and comments. The 990 is then reviewed independently by all the board members for errors and discrepancies. Findings are discussed during the board meetings and corresponding changes are made. It is subsequently approved by the board prior to filing with the IRS. Conflict of interest disclosure statements are required to be signed by employees. when a conflict arises, it is brought to the board's attention to be discussed. The board member who has this conflict must recuse themself from participating in any discussion related to the matter. During the process, these members gather external data with salary levels of Executive Directors within similar organizations. A recommendation of the Executive Directors salary is determine by the three members of the board based on the research. That information is then sent to the entire board of trustees for a subsequent vote. For all other officers, an evaluation is done by the executive director. An evaluation of each officer's work performance is assessed on an annual basis, Usually at or around the one year anniversary of the officer's hire date. salary levels for all officers are determined by review of external salary guides of similar organizations coupled with the officers certification, experience and performance levels. this process was last performed towards the end of the fiscal year.
