Since January 2010, the museum's staff has concentrated on design, fabrication, and installation of exhibits in the museum's new facility that is scheduled to open in August 2010. Despite the increased size of the new building, the museum's exhibit philosophy remained the same: to create stimulating environments for learning through play in the interdisciplinary areas of arts, culture, science, health, history, and civic engagement for children ages birth through 12. While the museum was closed from January through June 2010, museum staff took programs "on the road" and maintained high visibility with off-site presentations at community centers and public festivals. During 2009-10, the museum served 43,556 children and families on site, provided 192 on-site programs and events, and served an additional 19,046 people at 126 free community outreach programs. 57988 Marketing and Communications programs make sure the museum meets it mission to serve all children by developing and delivering information about exhibits, programs, and special events to constituents throughout south central Wisconsin.
