Taught 2,009 food and nutrition education classes with the help of approximately 1,100 volunteer family members totaling 3000 hours in nutritional cooking classes. Bilingual curriculum for grades K-1, 2-3 & 4-6 aligned with the New Mexico Department of Education Academic Standards and National Health Education Standards.Cooking With Kids received the following awards and honors: The Santa Fe Community Foundation 2009 Manuel Lujan Sr. Pinon Award for Outstanding Service in Education. Participation in the Chefs Move event at the White House on June 4, 2010. Cooking with Kids collaborated with the following: Santa Fe Public Schools Student Nutrition Program; New Mexico Department of Agriculture in Farm to School; Salazar Partnership for Health Schools and Agua Fria Family Resource Center provided six family cooking classes at Agua Fria and Salazar; CWK Super Chefs collaborates with local chefs who donate their time and talent in cooking classes, inspiring students with their skills, sharing their stories, and acting as professional role models to 5th and 6th grade students. A total of 15 chefs volunteered in 28 classes; Farmers in the Schools connects New Mexico farmers with elementary school students. Farmers enrich cooking classes by sharing their expertise and passion for growing and eating a variety of fresh, health foods. Four farmers participated in 12 cooking classes.USDA Research Grant: Cooking with Kids: Integrating Classroom, Cafeteria, and Family Experiences to Increase Fruit and Vegetable Preference and Intake. The project investigates students' attitudes and behaviors towards eating fruits and vegetables, and examines family food preparation and eating practices.
