In 1999, Trudeau Institute opened a 24,000 square foot research wing and increased facilities and faculty by forty percent. The half-million dollar instrument, developed by Becton Dickinson, enables Trudeau investigators to perform studies that, to date, have not been possible, due to the inherent limitations of existing equipment. The Trudeau Institute is ranked no. 6 in The Scientist magazine's 2010 "Best Places to Work in Academia" reader survey. Trudeau moved up seven spots, from its 13th place ranking in 2009.
