<Description>DSCI overall program goals achieved &amp; collaborations:Vxj-Thunder Bay-Duluth "Climate Idols"The concept of Climate Idols was originally developed in the City of Kalmar in Sweden in 2007, and known as "Climate Pilots." Our idea is to link three sister-cities together to grow the international portion of this project: Vxj Sweden, Duluth Minnesota, and Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Duluth Sister Cities International, the City of Thunder Bay's Environmental Division and the City of Vxj will oversee the project with community collaboration. The purpose of the project is to raise the environmental awareness of our communities as four different families in Duluth and Thunder Bay accept challenges and examine their climate impacts in four different areas (Energy, Food, Lifestyle, and Transportation). After completing their period of challenges, the families may go on to coach future families, spreading knowledge about climate-friendly living within the community. Corporate and Small Business Membership DriveDSCI's Board of Directors Marketing-Membership Committee put together the organization's first ever corporate and small business membership information and membership drive. The Marketing-Membership Committee created literature (membership applications and letters from the BOD) and power point presentations for two levels of membership: small business ($250) and corporate ($1,000).Dancing with the Czars; May 14; 2010The 4th annual DSCI gala fundraiser took all guests by surprise with a stunning and once in a life time performance! The city administration of Petrozavodsk and the Republic of Karelia helped to finance their trip. The dancers were in Duluth, staying with host families, for 1 week. During their visit, they gave several school performances, leading up to the big night "Dancing with the Czars."
