The alliance also published a set of model water conservation policies for states and utilities as an action agenda for imlementation of the requirements under the great lakes water resourcs compact. the alliance directly facilitated driving more than $1 million to on-the-ground ecosystem restoration projects in municipalities. finally, the alliance published a report on the threat posed to the great lakes by pharmaceutical byproducts and led involvement from the great lakes region in a national initiative to reduce sources of emerging contaminant pollution of drinking water. in additon, the alliance performs day-to-day work on conventional pollution control from industrial facilities, public utilities and sewage treatment plants located on or near the great lakes. 249866 79702 Education: the alliance provides research, outreach, training and curriculum development services to educators in support of its effort to bring place based education (PBE) to Students throughout the Great Lakes region. there are 1,500 copies of the alliance authored "great lakes in my world" curriculum in use throughout all eight of the great lakes states - resulting in at least 10,000 students learning about the resource in their own back yard.
