<Description>In 2010 Foxdale Village celebrates its 20th anniversary as a continuing care retirement community dedicated to serving men and women over the age of 65 in State College Pennsylvania. Foxdale's mission is to promote wellness and independence throughout the course of a lifespan. To achieve this goal and that of its role as a CCRC, Foxdale provides or makes available for a modest fee housing, health care, therapeutic recreation, exercise programs, an on site clinic and other related services. The majority of Foxdale residents live in cottages but are able to move into nursing or personal care facilities as appropriate to their situation. Foxdale has 32 licensed nursing beds, 35 personal care units and 148 residential living apartments. In the 2010 fiscal year, Foxdale served 264 residents and their families while employing over 250 individuals. Foxdale is in the midst of a $40 million expansion which will add 57 apartments, a memory support neighborhood, additional personal care rooms and a renovated community building housing the cafe and other services.Founded by a group of State College Friends, Foxdale Village is guided by Quaker principles and is the caring community those founders envisioned. That care is evident among residents through the breadth and depth of activities of the Resident's Association, individual resident volunteers, their family members, and in the staff who serve residents. That care also extends to Centre County and beyond as residents and staff engage in an array of volunteer and philanthropic activities. Foxdale residents volunteer and spearhead activity for an array of local nonprofits. Administrators and staff serve on and lead boards, speak to groups about healthy aging and life transitions, participate in mentoring programs for aspiring college students and other professionals in the health care field and much more. Thanks to the philanthropic vision of the first board and gifts from residents, family members and others, The Community Fund is available to aid residents with the cost of care should their financial fortunes change. Residents and others have also employed philanthropy to honor and thank employees for their exemplary service by supporting three funds that provide no-interest loans, support housing costs or fund continuing education. Thanks to the exemplary efforts of staff, 47% of whom have worked at Foxdale for over five years, Foxdale continues to be one of the highest rated health care providers in the Centre County region. Year after year, the survey results of the various governing agencies, along with the comments from Foxdale residents and their families, affirm the organization's commitment to its residents and mission statement. To ensure the quality of service to residents, Foxdale participated in a quality improvement program regarding various risk management topics in 2010. Foxdale ranked in the top twenty-fifth percentile of all the communities participating. Foxdale's neighborhoods and beautiful grounds, opportunities for intellectual engagement, and commitment to sustainability are just a few of the reasons residents and others highly rate Foxdale. From a financial perspective, Foxdale is on firm footing. Foxdale has maintained a positive increase in cash from operations and investments despite the overall downturn in the investment market. The 2010 fiscal year resulted in a 94% occupancy rate while the waiting list remains strong with 150 perspective residents. Twenty of these residents plan on moving to Foxdale in the next twelve months. Thanks to this strong position, Foxdale has been able to continue to invest in ongoing infrastructure improvements. Planning has continued to take place in the past year for the future of Foxdale. The board has authorized a new strategic plan and also approved the expansion project mentioned earlier.
