Center for Science and Animal Well-Being CSAW More than 2500 ambassadors of the animal kingdom provide our visitors with a rare opportunity to see species from around the globe. Expert care of these ambassadors is a time-honored tradition at CZS, where innovations in husbandry techniques and pioneering breeding programs are part of the cutting edge culture of excellence. Staff in the CSAW integrate disciplines such as endocrinology, population biology, behavioral science, nutrition and veterinary science to determine the best ways to provide and continuously care for the animals. They also incorporate models and practices from around the world, and from an array of animal care professionals, to develop the best possible zoo-based animal care and management practices.

Visitor Services Brookfield Zoo served over 2.1 million visitors in 2011, providing them with transportation, shops and restaurants. In addition to motorized, narrated educational tours throughout the park, the Zoo offers strollers, wheelchairs, wagons, etc. to help visitors have a more enjoyable visit. The shops make available goods which promote an interest in and understanding of the natural world and an awareness of how people around the world co-exist with the animals and the ecosystems where they live, and how choices made by humans impact the animals and the environment. The restaurants allow our visitors to stay in the park for lunch and expand the time they can enjoy the park. Visitor Services works closely with educators and designers to develop food packaging programs and select products which convey education and conservation related messages. Visitor Services also provides opportunities for families, businesses, senior groups, social clubs, etc. to hold special outings at the park where they receive admission, special tours and interaction with zoo staff.
