Approximately 200 students ranging from PreK through Middle School, received academic support in both Reading and Mathematics. Two of the neighborhood after school programs provided academic support for 180 days at no cost to the parents. The academic support in Reading and Mathematics and support in Character Education received by the students has resulted in reduced school absenteeism, improved behavior, improved academic performance, and increase in the percent of students passing state- mandated testing. NFOAAY also provided parenting classes for the parents of the students attending the neighborhood after school programs. Many of the participating parents have committed to positively modify their behavior based on practices learned in Parent Sharing Sessions.
