Grant awards are not approved until The Forum has verified the recipient organizations tax-exempt status as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code, and its status as a public charity as defined by Section 509(a)(1), (2), or (3), or the state or local municipality documents. The Forum conducts best efforts to ensure that all grant funds are used exclusively for grant purposes. Grants cannot be used to fulfill pledges or provide individual or private benefit. The Forum completes a thorough review of the applicants' organizing, exemption and board documents as well as current financial records to ensure adequacy of fiscal health, governance, and compliance to federal, state and local regulations. The Executive Team approves all awards upon review of the documentation before any funds are disbursed. The recipient submits periodic reports on the progress of the program with explanation of any line item variances, keeping in close contact with lead partners and documenting changes. All periodic reports must be current before additional disbursement can be released.
