AGA has taken leadership in initiating a comprehensive economic development strategy that will include the redevelopment, construction, and rehabilitation of several buildings located on the Guadalupe Street corridor. The historic Plaza Guadalupe, located at 1327 Guadalupe Street, is an open-air amphitheater equipped with 12 food booths, a stage, and seating. The Plaza has played host to many dignitaries and visitors including Pope John Paul II in 1987, Presidente Carlos Salinas de Gortari in 1991, and then-Senator Barack Obama in 2008. Today the Plaza hosts several events including the Fiesta event Pinatas en el Barrio and our own 16 de septiembre celebration to honor Mexican Independence Day. The Plaza has a maximum standing capacity of 3,000 and a maximum seating capacity of 1,500. 121198 22000 AGA maintains a contract with the City of San Antonios Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization NCR Program. This partnership is designed to preserve, protect, and revitalize the economic and social fabric of Guadalupe Street, an inner-city corridor in the heart of the Avenida Guadalupe Neighborhood. Through this contract, AGA supports economic revitalization efforts and is able to attract businesses and commerce to this community by offering benefits and incentives such as loan referral assistance, free business workshops, and referral assistance for marketing and business plan development. Businesses in the NCR Corridors are also eligible for Operation Facelift Facade Improvement Grants through which businesses can get reimbursed up to 15,000 for permanent facade improvements that help reverse deterioration of commercial structures and attract new business and private investment.
