Children At Risk conducted the first independent evaluation of these courts in Texas to provide a comparison of quality, cost, and effectiveness of services compared to incarceration, best practices utilized, and methods of creation and expansion to provide a road map for counties to establish or improve current juvenile mental health courts. As a result of C@R's education, coalition building, and advocacy efforts, a juvenile mental health court has been established in Harris County and is currently being developed for Dallas County.
