The emergency shelter facility located in Washington County has a capacity of 15 beds and 2 cribs. The emergency shelter facility located in Fayette County has a capacity of 14 beds and 3 cribs. Safe shelter is provided in both shelters for up to 45 days at confidential locations. Services provided in the shelters include: 24-hour hotline; 24-hour intake and transportation; individual and group empowerment counseling; children's program; information and referrals; accompaniment; general and legal advocacy; and food, clothing and personal care items. In FY 2011/12, a total of 5,758 shelter nights were provided to a total of 436 women and children in the Washington County shelter, and a total of 2,678 shelter nights were provided to a total of 228 women and children in the Fayette County shelter. The Washington County shelter fielded 1,125 domestic violence-related hotline calls and the Fayette County shelter fielded 506 domestic violence-related hotline calls. A total of 11,842.25 hours of empowerment counseling were provided to 1,488 domestic violence victims, children, and significant others in the Washington County shelter, and a total of 3,322 hours of empowerment counseling were provided to 652 domestic violence victims, children, and significant others in the Fayette County shelter. 348108 316602 31506 FRESH START TRANSITIONAL HOUSING: The DVSSP Fresh Start Transitional Housing program, which consists of 12 scattered-site apartments in Washington County and two in Greene County, provides furnished apartments for up to two years to women, with or without children, who are homeless due to domestic violence. Services provided include: group and individual empowerment counseling; information and referrals; advocacy and accompaniment; life skills training; legal and general advocacy; transportation; children's program; and household items, clothing and personal care items. Services provided to victims of domestic violence include: 24-hour hotline; transportation to the Washington County or Fayette County emergency shelter facilities; information and referrals; group and individual empowerment counseling; accompaniment; and legal and general advocacy. In FY 2011/12, our Greene County site fielded 488 domestic violence-related hotline calls. A total of 670 counseling hours were provided to a total of 390 victims, significant others, and children. In FY 2011/12, 534 Protection From Abuse petitions were filed through our Washington County legal advocacy program, which also enters all Washington County PFA petitions into the statewide PFA database. In FY 2011/12 in our Fayette County legal advocacy program, 313 Protection From Abuse petitions were filed. 80250 72500 7750 The DVSSP Education and Training Department focuses on the prevention of domestic violence, community awareness of the impact of domestic violence, trainings about domestic violence and the services available to victims, and volunteer opportunities within the organization. In FY 2011/12 in Washington County, 98 community education programs were provided to 2,823 adults, 80 prevention programs were provided to 3,956 students and youth, 24 community/systems trainings were provided to 486 persons, and 78 media and events of other types were completed. In Greene County, 12 community education programs were provided to 263 persons, 72 prevention programs were provided to 1,999 students and youth, 17 community/systems trainings were provided to 155 persons, and 33 media and events of other types were completed. In Fayette County, 26 community education programs were provided to 633 persons, 20 prevention programs were provided to 1,119 students and youth, 6 community/systems trainings were provided to 111 persons, and 29 media and events of other types were completed.
