After the president and finance director review the Form 990 in detail, changes are discussed with the preparer. Prior to issuance, a draft is presented to the finance committee of the board of directors. The finance committee and preparer discuss any potential changes. The finance committee then approves the draft. Part VI Section B Line 12c: Annually, each board member reviews and signs the conflict of interest policy acknowledging that he or she personallly knows of no conflicts of interest. Part VI Section B Line 15: President Barbara Barnard's salary was determined by an executive compensation study. In 2001, the board hired professor George Hagglund from UW Madison to perform the study. Prof Hagglund is well known for performing wage compensation studies. He did a job comparison study of executives of NPOs and equivalently sized for profit companies. Based on that study, a 10 year contract was written for the president's compensation. The compensation package was reviewed by Price Waterhouse Coopers in 2003 and Quatt and Associates in 2008. The agreement has since expired and the directors have engaged another consultant to suggest revisions to the compensation package. The President's salary is virtually unchanged since 2001. Ex VP Todd Bahnub's salary is set by the president after consulting the latest manufacturers employee compensation report for commercial sporting goods manufacturers and distributors. Mr Bahnub is no longer employed by the organization. All other employee wages are set based upon prevailing wages in the area for similar job descriptions and skill sets.
